Pre Opener 2016

Fished Houghton Lake on Friday, April 29th.  What an incredible fishery!  We started around midday with water temps in the 47-48 degree range.  Fished a bunch of newer areas and did awesome.  Ended up with roughly 75 bass (smallmouth and largemouth) - biggest largemouth was around 4 lbs.  We caught and release 10 northerns.  Also caught and released 9 walleyes - all would have been legal - biggest at a little over 19".  Kept 22 crappies.  All fish were caught on Charlie Brewer sliders - 3" slider grub - just an unbelievable plastic.  Best colors are still pumpkin black flake and watermelon red/copper/black flake.  All plastics were fished on a 1/8oz jig head.  Love the Walleye jig that Old Fart Lures makes - large hook increases hook ups.

Walleye bite was very strong today.  Really snapping at the jigs.  The nine we caught came easy.
