Livescope blew me away again
Just got back from a couple of days of fishing and, even though I fished with Livescope a ton this summer for deep water smallies, I’m still getting things dialed in on shallow water walleyes. Had some incredible experiences watching how fish related to my offerings. Here are the top five benefits I experienced for fishing Livescope for walleyes:
The Learning Curve. Livescope is a incredible fishing tool. You will learn so much as you watch how you’re fishing and how the fish are relating to your bait.
“I had a fish follow me in, and when I normally might have reeled up and made another cast, I saw the fish and dropped the bait to the bottom. Seeing the fish chase caused me to drop my bait and I caught that fish!”
Confidence because I know fish are in an area. When you are fishing for walleyes, you want to know that you have fish in the area. Time and time again, I saw multiple pods of fish giving me confidence to stay in an area and fish it thoroughly.
Differentiate between fish species based on size and shape of fish. I know this is crazy - but I can tell what are walleyes and what are other species of fish. Smallmouth bass have a distinct look as does bait and perch. This technology is super impressive.
Cadence is everything when throwing jigs. With this technology, you can see where your jig is at in the water column. Many of the bites I was getting, I needed to have that bait either on the bottom or just ticking the tips of the weeds. Livescope gave me the info I needed (as well as my clients) to see where they were at and what they needed to do differently to get in the strike zone.
Preference: Buy a separate arm to attach your Livescope transducer. I spent some money and bought a mounting pole that attaches to my Garmin force trolling motor. If you buy this, make sure you clarify the proper length of the pole. The website for this company (which I highly recommend is linked here.
