My Favorite Sunshirts
If you spend as many days on the water as I do, you need good sun protection for your body. I have found a couple of sun shirts that I really like and love to wear on a daily basis. Here are my favs and the reasons why I like them:
Simms SolarFlex Hoody. Color: Cloud camo blue. Absolutely love this shirt. Amazing comfort even in extremely hot weather. This summer had a number of days in the 90’s. Kept me color and protected from the sun.
Key detail: The hood. You want a hood on your sunshirt because it will protect your neck and ears from the sun. I still wear sunscreen, but you still want to keep the sun off of you when you’re out for 12+ hours a day.
Patagonia Men’s Sunshade Technical Hoody. Again - the hood is an essential part of what I’m looking for. I love the fit of these shirts and especially how the hood has a button just under the chin that helps for an even better fit.
Both shirts have a “thumb hole” to even help cover the upper part of your hand. I would give both an excellent rating and plan on picking a couple more up before next summer.
