Lake Trout Funk: Keys to catching Lake Trout on Lake George, NY
First off - we don’t troll - ever. We never troll. We would rather stick a fork in our eye than troll - even more than that - we never troll with clients. We started targeting lakers back in 2015 and since then we’ve learned a lot, but each year we keep honing things. I’m going to give you the top tips I have for fishing lake trout:
4 Keys to Catching Lake Trout on Lake George:
Location is huge. We move a lot in our effort to put baits in front of fish.
Electronics are key. My Garmin Livescope shows us a lot of information about if the fish are there and how active they are.
Presentations are the next key. Find jigging options that work. I used to think that there were only two colors for lakers - white and white. Now I’ve added a color. We fish spoons, plastics, blades, and hair jigs. They all have caught fish.
Early is generally best. We hooked a laker the other day midday, but most of our fish are caught before 9am.
Best way to grow as a fisherman is by fishing. Experience is huge. Book a trip and see what it’s like for yourself.
