March 4-6, Northwoods of Wisconsin

Fishing conditions were extremely challenging as we measured up to 42" of ice to auger through, up to three feet of snow on the ice, and 12 inches of slush under the snow!

We fished Carrol Lake two afternoons and caught some nice gills.  Nothing special on presentation, tungsten ice jig and waxie.  We also fished perch on Lake Minocqua in 20' of water.  We caught some fish.  Nothing to write home about.  The highlight of the trip came from fishing Big Arb, a lake that has been a favorite for years.  The crappie fishing was solid as we ended up with a dozen or so 9-10" fish.  Found out that, on top of normal reproduction, the area lake association stocks 5 million fry every other year.  Definitely going to be a lake we hit again next year.
