Late Gill Bite

Fishing small local ponds can be tricky this time of year. I have learned to be patient with the "day" bite and wait until the sun sets for the fish to turn on. Every day the bite turns on big time on this specific pond no earlier than 5:15 pm. Even though we can see fish on the camera and flasher they will not bite until that magic hour. When they do they bite like crazy! The VMC tungsten fly continues to work really well. One of my favorite features of this jig is how the angle of the eyelet makes it so the hook sits at a 45 degree angle to the fish causing more hook ups!
