5 Keys to Success on Lake George

Scoped this one on my hand tied hair jigs. Check ‘em out here:

Here are my top 5 tips to catching more fish on Lake George:

  1. Long Fluoro leader (8-15’): Attach a long fluoro leader onto your braid main line. I’m convinced that the big smallies will reject you if they see your braid. I usually fish 8# Gamma Fluoro, but I’m thinking about trying more 6# this summer.

  2. Learn to fish a hair jig. We crush smallies on the hair. Probably my favorite way to catch fish. Everything eats a hair jig. I like black and brown. And there’s a time for a 1/8oz and a time for a 1/4oz.

  3. Target feeding windows. Fish on clear bodies of water tend to have heightened feeding windows. Figure out which window is the best and focus in on it.

  4. Fish where the fish are! Garmin’s Livescope has changed the way I fish. Best to fish where the fish are - enough said.

  5. Hire a guide. I will teach you how to find and catch fish on Lake George. I fish for smallies and largies, and I also target Lake trout. We never troll. I always put a rod in your hand. Now is the time to book to secure the day(s) you want.

There you have it. Those are 5 things that have helped me put more fish topside (we catch and release everything). You can book a trip by emailing me at freshwatertherapy@gmail.com or text me at 517-488-3224. Hope to see you on the water!
